    The project is located in Sultan Qaboos Street is one of the major roads and passing through Al Khuwair in Muscat Urban Area (Sultan Qaboos Street parallel to Al Wizarat Street).

    The main component of the project:

    The Sultan Qaboos Street parallel to Al Wizarat Street is prone to accumulation of flood during rain due to existing Sag Curve road vertical profile and accumulated flood is not discharging off effectively from existing drainage system arrangement. The flood may be accumulating due to not proper drainage system in the study area from mountain south of Muscat Expressway to the sea.

    According to the TOR, the Scope of Work is detailed as follows:

    The Scope of Work as detailed in the TOR includes the following tasks:

    The consultant is required to execute detailed investigation for drainage system on and around the Sultan Qaboos Street as said project area and suggest suitable corrective measures to discharge the flood effectively. The scope of work includes but not limited to the following.

    1. Collect the project specific data from different agencies. The consultant shall collect all available maps and layout available for drainage development.
    2. Estimate flood discharge in the project area as per catchment basin from existing hill south of Muscat Expressway upto the see in north.
    3. Investigate drainage condition of the Sultan Qaboos Street and its surrounding in project area. Estimate flood discharge along the road and its surrounding.
    4. Calculate the effectiveness of the existing drainage system and its upgradation requirement.
    5. Suggest the drainage requirement as new line and upgradation requirement throughout project area.
    6. Review and assess the effectiveness of proposed drainage line along the road (way no 3417) and suggest its effectiveness or its alternate arrangement for drainage discharge of ministries area once the pumps are draining the water from the SQ road.
    7. Once condition and requirement for drainage system is known then suggest remedial measures based on the followings either one of below or simultaneously.
      • Raising the road level of SQ Street maximum to 1.0 m approx and hence improvement of affected area, drainage lines, utilities and others due to raising of road levels in two sides.
      • Increasing the head of the existing Pumps (located between SQ street and Al Wizarat Street)  and improving system
      • Improving and connecting the drainage to proposed drainage line as suggested previously or any modification required for same to discharge storm water in sea.
      • Propose new line if required to collect and discharge the water into sea throughout the project area

    8.  Suggest suitable rectification of the road and its surrounding.

    9.  Suggest suitable rectification of the drainage structures and its surrounding.

    10.  Conceptual Report, Preliminary Design – Data collection, topographical survey, Drainage system study, Road & Pavement study, Affected utilities and Preparation of Reports and Drawings.

    13. Bid evaluations and preparing recommendation on Technical and Commercial aspects.
