Project Location:

Bandar Al Khayran is located in the Governorate of Muscat, about 20 kms southeast of Muscat.

The main component of the project/Objective:

Bandar Al Khayran is a magnificent environmental and cultural asset for Oman. It is a complex mix of steep mountainous lands and wadis that meet the Gulf of Oman in beaches and protected coves fringed by diverse coral communities. Gazelle roam the rugged coastline while turtles nest on the protected beaches. Local community association with the land and sea has endured for thousands of years. Nowadays, the waters are shared with Omani and international tourists who come to experience its natural environment, the outstanding beauty and its rich history.

Communicate key environmental, safety and site usage guidelines for users accessing Bandar Al Khayran either by sea or by land, as well as potential users; promoting responsible use of the sensitive and valuable environmental assets of the area for the benefit of the environment and for visitors enjoyment, satisfaction and safety.

The Scope of Work is detailed as follows:

Based on the TOR, the services shall be comprised of three key elements namely:

a)     Design and Supervise the construction of advisory signs at road, sea, and beach entry points to Bandar Al Khayran as well as external marinas in the Muscat region.

b)    Develop media collateral.

c)     Present awareness workshops to user groups (tourism users and local fishermen).

The Consulting Engineer shall develop and prepare for approval - Detailed Designs with specification and content for all the components of the approved option along with time and cost estimates for implementing the project components, Tender Documents, and assist with the tender issue, evaluation and award.

The Scope of Services and other requirements are only guidelines for the development of the scheme. During each part of the design phase the Consulting Engineer is expected to liaise closely with Client's technical team in order to elaborate, add or modify the design. The detailed tasks envisaged during each stage should be provided.

Due to the fragile nature of the site, special consideration should at all times be given to minimise environmental impact and maintain the site's values while carrying out the work (design and supervision).

Supervision of the Construction Works - The work includes the responsibility of complete construction supervision of the project during its construction phase, overseeing production and delivery of media collateral and facilitating and presenting awareness activities.
