  • Narrative Description of the Project:

    The airport site is located on a flat plain at Ras Al Hadd with surface deposits of Brown to Reddish brown slightly silty sand according to the geotechnical reports provided. The site is located approximately 22 km south of the existing Ras Al Hadd airstrip. The general drainage is in a westerly direction towards the ocean. Manholes and Culverts will be constructed at the new airport site and consequently these structures are required to withstand aircraft loading, including Airbus A 380 loading without distress. The structures are designed in accordamce with AASHTO LRFD Specifications with the special vehicle being and Airbus A380. Crack width design in accordance with BS 8007.

    1) Analyse the loading conditions including surcharge due to approaching wheels as well as whee loads on the roof of structures
    2) Design the reinforced concrete structures to withstand the loads at ultimate and service conditions
    3) Detail the structures accordingly
