Improvement on Al Sultan Qaboos Street (inbound- from Al Mawaleh Interchange to Muscat Airport Interchange)

Narrative Description of the Project:

Al Sultan Qaboos street inbound carriageway between Al Mawaleh interchange and Muscat Airport interchange is witnessing increasing traffic congestion due to the fast developing occourring at its adjacent areas and presence of the access to the Muscat Airport and Muscat Mall. With Tender No PRE/12/092 of Muscat Municipality (Apr 2012) it was proposed to design and build the fourth lane for inbound carrageway to help ease the congestion. Best Infrastructure Developers LLC was awarded of the Design and Build Contract for this road portion and, upon Client?s direction, appointed Renardet S.A. & Partners as Design Consultant. The improvements for the road are proposed in three sections: sections 1 and 3 comprise the addition of the fourth lane (total length 4.0 Km) while section 2 comprises the upgrading of the existing floodway to culvert crossing to accomodate flood return periods up to 100 years (length of section 0.5 Km). The construction works include also: taxi parking near Muscat Mall, extension of the existing drainage structure, wadi protections, street lighting, storm water drainage, utilities relocation and protection.

3) Perform a hydrology study and hydraulic design to determine the drainage structures
4) Prepare preliminary and detailed design
5) Coordination with concerned authorities to obtain their approval of the design
6) Construction supervision
