  • Narrative Description of the Project:

The Ministry of Transport & Communications (MOTC) proposes existing track roads at Wadi Minqal and wadi bani jabar, Wilayat Sur. The roads are required to improve access and safety between the villages of Tayma, Al Shibaykah and a number of other settlements. The roads pass through extreme mountain terrain with large wadi systems and existing vertical gradients of up to 25 %. The total length of proposed roads is approximately 19 Km. The works consist of realignment and upgrading of the track road to an asphalt road, construction of drainage structures, installation of concrete and steel safety barriers, introduction of emergency parking, traffic signage and road markings. A Bridge across Wadi Addah-Wadi sinaf is required. The proposed bridge has an approximate length of 210 m resulting in 7 spans of each 30 m. The maximum height is 45 m. Strabag proposed an alternative Arch Culvert instead of the bridge and the DGR&LT asked Renardet to study the preliminary design. Evaluation of Contractor's proposal to replace the bridge with arch-culvert.
