  • Narrative Description of the Project:

    The project is to carry out a feasibility study to widen the existing dual carriageway (2 x 2-lane) Rusayl-Nizwa Road (from Sawha Roundabout to Bidbid Interchange) to 2 x3-lane or 2 x 4-lane as required from traffic analysis to eliminate the traffic congestion on this road. A component of the study is to identify possible new alignments for traffic incorporating a link to Muscat Expressway at Khoud Interchange. Alternative alignments may include tunnels and other major structures to pass through the difficult mountainous terrain.

    1) Topographic Survey and mapping as required
    2) Perform a hydrology study and concept hydraulic design to determine the drainage structures
    3) Study alternative alignment through aerial photographs and mapping
    4) Concept Design of all necessary structures
    5) Evaluate the cost of widening and upgrading the existing road
    6) Evaluate the cost of alternative alignments
    7) Prepare feasibility study report
    8) Prepare Terms of reference for downstream design work
