We have been awarded a project by the Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries for “Consultancy Services For Development of Traditional Agriculture Irrigation System in Aflaj Agriculture Villages, Sultanate of Oman. The main objective of the project is to install a modern irrigation system to amalgamating and support the traditional distribution system. It is required also to assess the source and availability of water that can be utilized for cultivation. Development of Traditional Irrigation of Aflaj agriculture Villages The Farms proposed for modernization at the following FIVE locations: 1. Al Buraimi Falaj, Wilayat Al Buraimi in Al Buraimi State (80 feddan) 2. Assaara Falaj, Wilayat Al Buraimi in Al Buraimi State (30 feddan) 3. Mhadah Falaj, Wilayat Mhadah in Al Buraimi State (60 feddan) 4. Alazizey Falaj, Wilayat Dank in Al Dhahirah State (100 feddan) 5. Semma Falaj, Wilayat Iziki in Al Dhakilia State (72 feddan) SCOPE OF WORK The following but not limited to: 1. Visit the site and participate in a meeting with the representatives of the farmers, the Sheikh and the Vakil of falaj 2. Undertake the detailed survey work to enable to prepare: • Map of existing situation showing boundaries of different farms, channels of irrigation, any property in any farm, all trees and any other details useful to carry out the design. • Prepare the contour plan of appropriate contour intervals for the purpose of preparation of design. • To assess the source of water and the water availability from these sources or other alternate sources which can be utilized for irrigating this farm. 3. Prepare the preliminary irrigation arrangement to: • decide the areas for irrigation system • decide storage tanks number, size and phases • Decide the areas for irrigation system • for different farming areas prepare an irrigation arrangement drawing showing the overall concept of operation • examine the falaj outlet or other water sources and propose alternate modification to suit the storage and transportation channels. 4. Undertake the detailed design of • Transportation and distribution of water in two or more water tanks. • Irrigation, distribution and its controls. • Number and size of the pumps. • Required power network. • Prepare drawings based on the design and the configuration of system for irrigation network, control system, pumping station, storage tanks and transportation along with any modification of falaj / source outlet • Prepare specification. • Prepare fully detailed bill of quantities. • Combine all these and prepare a tender document for inviting the contractors as per the Tender Board requirements.
